Ms. Burns-
We do have some limited information about PS 154 but no photos. We would love to post photos of your school as part of our Gallery if you will supply. What a great project for your student! Marina del Rey Middle School in Los Angeles is doing a curriculum project on Paul R Williams and we can get all of you in touch. Pls contact me via the "contact us" section of this web site.
Look forward to hearing from you.

I have a student at our school, PS 154, in Harlem, New York, who is researching the history of our school building which was designed by Paul Williams. Our school is not in your gallery. Do you have any information about it?

Hi Janna
Dr. Heise asked me to get in touch with you re your question. There are some terrific sources included on our bibliography about the buildings you've asked about though I haven't really found anything directly about his direct use of symbolism. (Scholarship is really needed on many aspects of his work!)The 28th Street Y or the DC housing Project might have something that you might think about. Also we have tried to include the appropriate style with each Gallery image.
If you are having difficulty searching the bib we have now included a "searching" tip on that introductory page.
Please contact me directly for "brain storming." I'd love to work with you. My email address is available thru the U of M directory.

Hi All! My lesson is shaping up to be more about an architecture project that the students work on and I am using Paul Williams as my main historical reference and inspiration for the project. Is this okay?

I am planning on having my students look at two aspects of Paul Revere Williams' style of architecture in the particular unit that I am planning: 1)symbolism - example: Church of Religious Science, circular representing wholeness, St. Jude, star representing hope, and 2)use of style - example: West Coast Modern - Town and Country Restaurant, Spanish Colonial Revival - Edwin building and International - Linde Building. Are there others that stylistically, should be included? I am trying focus on the "best" ones. Comments or improvements are most welcome. Thank you for any constructive criticism.

Knowing that this website is a work in progress, I am wondering if there are any plans to add a child-friendly component to the education resources that they could access and interact with.
